Weekly Update

September 3rd, 1999

Greetings Everybody:

My wife and I had a wonderful visit in Minneapolis last weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Paul Shumway and the brethren. A special incentive to visiting Minneapolis was our son Peter, his wife Mique, and their three children. Also our younger daughter Kathryn and her two children who live in the Chicago area came over to visit with us-so a considerable portion of our family was able to visit together. And, very importantly, my grand-daughter Meghan turned six on Sunday, August 29, and my grandson Jacob turned three on August 29, the same day I turned xx!! Therefore, though we had no birthday celebration as such, we were able to be together for the occasion. Upon my return from Minneapolis a bug (or food poisoning,) laid me low for a bit, but I am back to work today.

I am very happy to report that Mrs. Carl (Linda) Labuschagne, of the Republic of South Africa is recovering exceptionally well from Malaria and complications thereto. Her son Herman informed me that "her recovery came just as things were looking their darkest. As quickly as trouble had come, so quickly it blew away again." "This has been a genuine miraculous intervention."

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Gustin have reported that Mr. Gustin is doing fine. We apparently overstated and over-reacted concerning Gene's health condition. Mrs. Gustin wrote to me the following; "He looks good, feels good, and is preparing to go to Morocco next week to help his son with a major drilling project there, something he's very excited about." My apology to Mr. and Mrs. Gustin, although they appreciated your expression of concern for them.

We are saddened by the death last Thursday of Mrs. Francis Windom, Hostess of the Wheatland, Wyoming Video Group. Mrs. Windom was like a rock in support of the Church and Work of God. She was baptized in 1954 in Big Sandy, Texas, with her husband Mr. Jim Windom. She fought a good fight-and her reward is sure!

We are very near the fall festival season. Many of you will be traveling long distances by private and commercial transportation. Please plan carefully, allow sufficient time for travel, and use care. Satan is going about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. None of God's children is immune to his attack. None is unimportant in God's sight-hence Satan will seek to destroy any or all of us.

Mr. and Mrs. Meredith are going to Dallas, Texas for the Feast of Trumpets. Mr. and Mrs. Ames will be going to the Danbury, Connecticut (Northeast combined area) and my wife and I plan to be in Alaska. Others are also traveling around the world, so please remember to pray for us and for one another.

Have a great Sabbath!
